I wouldn't mind if PVE charas could never use the Tolkano Reward list of weapons, as long as any weapons that are ONLY obtained through PVP would make an appearance in PVE areas as drops or chest rewards.

PvE has rewards not available to exclusive PvPers, PvP has rewards not available to exclusive PvErs. That's how it should be. The best skins are all PvE drops anyway, so it's a moot point.

except that pvp characters can USE pve weapons, whereas pve characters can NOT get the pvp ones---not very moot when the street is only one way. (pvp can use ANY, pve can only use pve)..which is what the thread is pointing at in the first place.
IF pve characters were allowed to use pvp skins (and not just the few that you can get thru the bugged bonus items?) then there would be no complaining, yet pvp characters can use any skin that can be bought/sold/traded. not quite fair.

It's quite ridicilous how some of the best skins in game are available with any mods of choice for PVP characters while PVE characters only have a choice between completely unwanted mods + the skin you want or wear something else. Especially for wands and staves there is just so many good skins that goes completely unused as they only exist in unwanted attributes. Same about Shield of the Dead skin (Tanzit's Defender) and more which you simply don't see in general PVE.

Giving PVE chars access to PVP setups might be a bad way to go about it, but you can't shove it under the rug that the current skins situation is pretty RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed up. Try finding a nice necromancer wand with a death magic attribute.

The original idea presented in the OP is a bit... odd, for lack of a better word now. However this alone:

Might introduce a nice gold sink in the game, if it worked like this:
* introduce the Zaishen Battlesmith
* go to the Smith
* click "Forge me a weapon, good sir!" - or - "Craft me an armor, fair master!"
* for weapons:

* choose weapon type (shield, spear, etc)
* choose skin - anything that still drops
* choose requirement - no oddballs like shields requiring fire magic, though - only what is observable with the given weapon type already; also, they would only come in q9 or even q10, to keep the q9 player market somewhat appealing
* choose mods - again, only what is already available through inscriptions and mods (no way to add inherent-only mods, so rare oldschool stuff is not affected)
* pay zcoins AND gold, to suck both out of the game
* the weapons created that way cannot be traded, dropped, merched, etc, they become customised to the character that crafted them, they cannot be salvaged and cannot be added to HoM

* for armors:

* you unlock armor sets just like mods for PvP
* once you've crafted a set in PvE with any character on the account, you can have the Battlesmith craft the same set for any other of your characters - including the PvP characters, thus making it possible to get elite sets with PvP chars
* it wouldn't be totally for free - ~10% of the normal material/gold price would still be required, possibly swapped to zcoins+gold
* you can only craft the full set at once, with one click - if you want to mix some elements, you'd have to craft several full sets, but it'd still be cheaper than crafting those pieces alone at normal armorers
* the pieces created this way are customised, cannot be salvaged, merched, traded, dropped, as well as they cannot be added to HoM

This way both PvE characters would get access to PvP-only weapon skins (because ALL currently obtainable skins would be available at the Smith, except maybe for Envoy weapons since they're already there for zcoins and gold) and PvP characters would get access to PvE-only armor skins without spending hundreds of zcoins every time they reroll. On top of that, everyone would be able to use whatever skins they want.
At the same time, since the weapons would be q10 and wouldn't be allowed to get some oldschool inherent mods (so no double vampirics, no shields with +20% chance to get +1 on a caster attribute, etc), neither the inscribable q9 and lower items nor valuable oldschool stuff would be affected when it comes to player-to-player market.
As it would be an offer served by an NPC, the gold and zcoins payed would disappear from the game - while i wouldn't expect too big interest in this kind of thing, there'd still be a valuable gold sink, or at least a static price check for player-traded mods, inscriptions and q10+ weapons.

Nah, I can't agree with this idea. Add weapon mod traders like the rune trader maybe, but the way the system works now is better overall.
Although a system where you can buy access to weapon/armor setups EXCLUSIVELY able to be used in PvP might be a decent change.

It's not that hard to bring a PvE character to PvP anyways.

I havent had any sucess in trying it

Its not hard to bring a pve character over to pvp, but not everyone can do pvp (I stink and that is saying something GOOD about my abilities). Still would be nice if they just added the pvp only skins somewhere in the pve drops--that would solve my hoarding need.

Yeah, I figured it out a little later. Just write /bonus equip item and change skin. Nothing more to it. Wearing Shield of the Dead and Silverwing Flatbow myself now ^^ Only remotely worth it on bow / shield though. Since you can't change stats other then bow handle.

There is absolutely no benefit to this outside of cosmetics. You want prettier weapons. In no way is your gaming experience impeded by not owning the things you desire, so there is absolutely no need for this to happen.
